When we developed this
Physical Chemistry ebook we put a lot of effort to make sure that resources which
normally come with hard copy editions, are
built into the book or available for download for free:
- There is an extensive free solutions manual with solutions developed by students (peer learning), with feedback forms for discussion; http://www.mchmultimedia.com/store/chemistry-freeware.html.
- The ebook can be projected in class to show all figures as you teach. Hard copy books would require additional resources for projection, like image and Power Point slides.
- The topics of the chapters that appear are equivalent to Power Point headings. Since the students also have the ebook, they follow those headings and the figures more easily.
- There are multimedia popups through out (about 100) and these are also readily available from the book’s Table of Contents (in a separate ‘multimedia’ index, listed according to chapters). They can be used as demos in class. These are resources that hard copy books cannot match, so text book companies usually have a web site. Having these integrated into the book is easier and at the teachers’ and students’ finger tips. The level of interactions of the multimedia is extensive in many cases.
- The book, being on a computer and shown in class, is integrated with the resources on the internet.
- The free solution manual can be used as resource for exam questions so a test bank is not necessary like it is for freshman chemistry courses.
- Any upgrades (edition changes) to the content of the ebook will be available to all those who have an active license.
